Pool-Mate: the watch that counts your laps
If you love to swim but have trouble keeping count of your laps – you’re not alone. In fact, this problem inspired the team at Swimovate to create the Pool-Mate, an easy-to-use swimming watch that does the lap counting for you.
The Pool-Mate uses state-of-the-art accelerometers to measure the movement of your wrist during the swim stroke to pick out the stroke and lap information for these swimming strokes: Freestyle (front crawl), Back Stroke, Breast Stroke and – everyone’s favourite – Butterfly. The Pool-Mate watch doesn’t need to be calibrated to your pool length. However, your pool needs to be a minimum of 15 metres (49 feet) in length.
As well as lap counting, the Pool-Mate does much more: it displays and stores session time, average strokes per lap, speed, distance, calories and efficiency. If you’re training for a special swimming event or like being able to review an overall swimming session, the Pool-Mate records and displays the statistics for each individual set so you can see how all these metrics change through a swim session.
